“And let us run with perseverance”

What are the lies/fears we tell ourselves that hold us back? For me, it is the fear of ill health. Renee Fisher in her book on p. 23 says, ” We don’t have to cower in a spirit of fear. Instead, we can learn through the power of the Holy Spirit to discipline our minds and accept God’s love. That love is stronger than any situation we find ourselves in. Knowing this we can throw off the lies that kept us back!
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off
everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles.
And let us run with perseverance the race marked our for us,
fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith (Hebrews 12: 1-2)

What do you think? Do you think our fears hold us back. Can the Holy Spirit help us learn to accept God’s love?

  1. Is that even possible? I suppose not, that is why life is always a journey. And yes, I agree with your profound thought, Kathy, that “fear is behind all of our failure”. That is really worth thinking about it more deeply.

  2. you have to face your fear.. (a little girl in a movie said that & I’ve always thought it was funny until I realized it’s true).. i think until we can love ourselves without clothes, masks, conditions, or thoughts, we will have barriers unto the greatest freedom of all: Love. Love is not cheep, but it is free: free or burdens, notions, ect.. It is also a choice. we can love or we can fear not be accepted.. i’ll be getting the book book you mentioned.. would love to live in a place where fountains flow with living water and peaceful streams.. yet BR traffic is contrary: anyhow.. i’m rambling now.. bla bla.. haha : will post when I have read some of the book you mentioned. mc2
